Nice to be able to get breakfast later in the day when you are on vacation. Especially the Prime Rib Tacos! Good salads and soups.
Service was great.We went there a couple of times. The Feta salad was large enough to share and the soups were really good. And one of our party ordered a side croissant. The wings were crispy and tasty. Friendly staff but service was very slow. Sip a martini, an original Gin Cocktail or try one of our many beers or wines in casual, yet classic, tavern charm. The food was good. The music hall, the sanctuary, the conservatory and experimental laboratory, at that time, was a place, name of Big Bear Tavern.

Our Tri-Tip beef is aged for twenty-one days and dry rubbed for a tender, succulent taste, then roasted to perfection over a red oak, in the traditional Santa Maria Barbeque style. They discovered New Orleans.Helm and Murphy began dropping into Big Bear Tavern for jam sessions that began after hotel ballroom jobs ended and often went on until dawn. Murphy and Helm put together their own five-piece ensemble, landed a few jobs around town, but couldn’t make a go of it. The patio was delightful. According to writer Lester Koenig, who knew them all and composed liner notes to their recordings on his Good Time Jazz label, Murphy, Watters, and Helm had at least one thing in common, a desire to play hot jazz as opposed to the pop music of the day, big band swing.The Foundation for Lu Watters’ YBJB was LaidLu Watters organized a five-piece group and opened at the Ambassador Ballroom on Fillmore Street. There, the set list included songs few had heard of anywhere outside New Orleans: “High Society,” “Panama,” and “Maple Leaf Rag.”At these sessions, Watters was the dominant figure, and his reputation was that of the best jazz musician in the area.
