The Ryzen 7 3700X is the direct successor to the Ryzen 7 2700X, but instead of just a refresh this time AMD managed a generational microarchitecture improvement called Zen 2 as well as a better node/manufacturer process at 7nm. vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600. vs. Intel Core i5-9600K. Streaming and editing. vs. AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. Go 3700x for $100. I currently have a 4690k which will be 5 years old in a few months. Check out Ryzen 5 3600 vs. Ryzen 7 3700X comparison details and find out what component will best suit your PC. There's no way streaming at 1080p 60 fps would impact your game performance and GPU encoding is a thing now.
Or should I just stick with the 3600?For gaming AND streaming or video/photo editing, $100 is cheap compared to the multi core advantage you get with the 3700x. I'm looking at upgrading, and the obvious budget choice is the 3600, the 3700x is about £110 more for 2 more cores and 4 more threads. If you were strictly gaming, 3600 all day, no questions asked.
I have a GTX 970 that I will upgrade soon, but not found the need to yet. Would kinda suck to get a 3600 today, and late next year a game you really want to play uses all 6 cores and you can’t stream it without lowering quality quite a bit.For streaming, and especialyl streaming and gaming, the R7's absolutely worth it.
