Dave Konopka leaves Battles

We’ve never been a band looking to repeat a formula and new situations present chances to do new things.Hey everyone, as some of you maybe have heard, Battles’ lineup has changed. Dave was a huge part of the visual side of the band too. **Label Biography:** Battles are the Networked Band, or perhaps the-band-as-network.

An island chain linked by a unique combination of artistry, experimentation, technology and singular focus. "As some of you may have heard, Battles’ lineup has changed. We’ve never been a band looking to repeat a formula and new situations present chances to do new things. I love Battles immensely, I just don't think they'll be the same without Dave. I know that's part of why they want to hang on to it too, but I think it's better for one's mental health to teach oneself to let go of the past and embrace the new. Their guitarist/bassist Dave Konopka has decided to leave the band “for individual causes.” Dude is a beast and is going to be missed.

Juice B Crypts slaaaaaapsI thought they weathered Braxton’s exit relatively well. When bands keep going this long with all these major lineup changes, they start to get bogged down by the legacy of their earlier work. If he doesn't... then maybe it was because people are tough to work with.So goddamn disappointing. How do you think it is? I feel like each of their three albums has been a small step down in quality from the previous one.

I also wonder if they will bring in new collaborators like they did on Gloss Drop.I’ve always loved Ian Williams, Don Cab, Storm and Stress, Battles, but the guy does seem like an ego maniac (watch the Belgium banana interview) and is probably difficult to work with. Battles Announces Departure of Dave Konopka, Promise “More To Come” In a message just posted across their social media, Battles has confirmed a lineup change in a sad, handwritten note. A little over a year ago, Dave decided to leave the band for personal reasons. ‘La Di Da Di’ is the prompt, the exclamation and the riddle to hang in the air while we try to make sense of just what Battles have done now. Anyone that listens to our music knows that each stage of our evolution has been pretty different. Out of a sudden, there are reggae grooves or silly changes of melody, so that some ideas appear too artificial to be spontaneous or natural (yet crazy) consequences.

So I wonder how their artistic aesthetic will change along with the music.

We appreciate and love everyone that was a part of Battles and are really excited about what’s next. Hey every person, as some of you possibly have heard, Battles’ lineup has changed. They still sounded amazing though, so y'all can put your worries to restWe appreciate and love everyone that has been a part of Battles and are really excited about what’s next.I'm very curious to see what they do next. But the two remaining remembers absolutely have enough quality to overcome another setback. It's out. Battles is an American experimental rock band, founded in 2002 in New York City by Ian Williams (formerly of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress). The current line-up is a duo, composed of guitarist/keyboardist Williams and drummer John Stanier (formerly of Helmet, Tomahawk and The Mark of Cain).Former members include composer/vocalist Tyondai Braxton and guitarist/bassist Dave Konopka

A little over a year ago, Dave decided to leave the band for personal reasons. If I were Ian Williams and John Stanier, I would change the name and really start fresh. He takes with him many of his "orchestrated loops," and leaves behind a trio of gifted, but less dextrous, instrumental improvisers. Maybe Dave couldn’t deal with him anymore either, same as Braxton.Anytime I listen to post-Mirrored Battles or Braxton solo I think about the amazing shit they could be making together. Here's a thought: If Dave continues to do the album art - then it was for personal reasons.

A band that holds computerized loops in their brains, leaves sweat on their machines and whose sonic heartbeat is almost brutally human. A small more than a year ago, Dave decided to leave the band for individual causes. Don Cab seemed like a clash between his ego and Damon Che, perhaps the inspiration for Battles name. More to come…Thankful that the band will have something else coming soon. I wonder if they will play old songs or only new material.

He did the album art. Dave Konopka, Ian Williams and John Stanier have turned the tables on themselves this time, confronted their own ideas of what Battles is – and on their third album (release in September 2015), have willed an answer to that question into existence. Hope to be pleasantly surprised by their next record.I mean, I understand where you're coming from, but we also thought the same when Tyondai left, and then they went off and made Gloss Drop. We’ve never been a band looking to repeat a formula and new situations present chances to do new things."As some of you may have heard, Battles’ lineup has changed. Saw them play a one-off in a festival in Israel last September, and Dave wasn't there, which was fairly odd as no official announcement has been made.

The result leaves me baffled: On the one hand, Battles are as true to themselves as maybe never before, on the other hand, they are almost erratically distracted.
