With the RTX 2080 Ti the 3600 is 8% faster than the 3300X when looking at the 1% low data, then 6% faster with the RTX 2070 Super, and just 5% faster with the Radeon RX 5700.Finally, here’s a look at the 1440p ultra data, probably the most realistic scenario for someone rocking a high-end graphics card like the RTX 2070 Super or RTX 2080 Ti. Buy used: $39.95. This marks Chromium compile as the most interesting test of the production suite, since the latency really seems to show itself.Power testing is among the last for the 3300X. No surprises here, we’re almost entirely GPU bound and within this group of CPUs, there's no difference in gameplay performance. The 1600 AF, meanwhile, runs ahead of the 3100 but behind the 3300 by reduced margins, stock and overclocked. Priced at just $120 USD, it offers far better value to gamers than all the Ryzen CPUs before it. We compared two desktop CPUs: the 3.6 GHz AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with 6-cores against the 3.8 GHz Ryzen 3 3300X with 4-cores. The 3300X OC versus 3100 OC becomes more interesting and presents a 10% advantage from latency and layout. The 3100 OC vs. 3300X OC is 14% apart, so the 3100 had more overclocking headroom to benefit from. AMD's Ryzen 5 3600X is more expensive than the 3600 for a few reasons. The 3300X is only 5% faster than the 2600 and ~2% slower than the 3600 as we become more GPU limited.Once we drop down to the Radeon RX 580, we’re entirely bound by the GPU and the results we see here are largely within the margin of error. That’s a $50-$80 jump in price, depending on timing, and may be worth considering for professionals or regular hobbyists.Premiere at 1080p is next. The 3100 result hasn’t really changed since it’s been CPU bound already, but the 3300X stock result is now 114FPS AVG, with about the same on the 3300X OC. Some of the areas used for testing the games have also been updated in those articles.Starting with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey using the medium quality preset at 1080p, we find that the 3300X is positioned between the 2600 and 3600 when using the RTX 2080 Ti, making the R5 3600 around 15% faster. AMD is still making and selling the 1600 AF to retailers, but they are beeing scooped-up by scalpers and sold at ridiculous prices. The 5.1GHz 7700K result is far and away the best of the CPUs we’re focusing on today, at 111FPS AVG, so clearly the old Intel chips had some more headroom than modern Ryzen--overclocking the 3300X brought only about a 1 FPS increase in the overall average, as the lightly-threaded workload allows the chip to stick close to its 4.3GHz boost clock even without an overclock. Clock-to-clock, the 3100 vs. 3300X result benefits the 3300X by 15%, despite being the same CPU on paper. The delta is 2.1% in favor of AMD. Here we find a scenario that is almost entirely CPU limited. In all this data the 3300X was up to 11% slower than the 3600 with similar margins between the average and 1% low data. The downside is that both of these processors are more expensive: where the Ryzen 5 3600 is $199, the i5-9600KF is $263 and the i7-9700KF is $385. Intel’s i3-9100F fell significantly below the Ryzen parts with a 98.3FPS overall average and 0.1% lows dipping down to 54FPS average, while even the stock 1600AF managed 120FPS average. Unlike some previous CPUs, like the R5 3600 and 3600X, or the 2600 and 2600X, the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 can’t simply be overclocked to equate the 3300X’s performance. Because the 3100 is so easily overclocked on just the multiplier (separate piece incoming on IF + DRAM), the logical jump would be that you could just buy a 3100 and overclock it to save $20. It’s impossible to distinguish between any of the CPUs used here and the 3300X was capable of maintaining well over 100 fps at all times with the RTX 2080 Ti.The last game we’re checking out is World War Z. Price comparison. We don't really have any Intel parts worth comparing to, so you're looking at AMD up-and-down the product stack until hitting the 9700K and 9900K. That being the case, let’s see what the average performance looks like and for drawing more reference comparisons, we’ll be adding in the Ryzen 9 3900X and Core i9-9900K to the following graphs. At 1080p with medium graphics settings, when using the fastest available RTX GPU today, the Ryzen 5 3600 is ~11% faster than the 3300X when comparing 1% low data.
