Came here to kayak, had so much fun came back to tube it the very next week. The Kishwaukee river ends when it merges into the Rock river, south of Rockford. Please check this river closely before attempting a trip. Very few obstructions and moves along at a pleasant pace. The river is marked with mile markers which makes it easy to judge your timing. Its low gently sloping banks offer many spots to sit and fish, picnic or just watch the flowing waters glide by. There are many parks to take in, out, our stop for a picnic. The river is home to over 1,000 species of plants, 59 species of fish, and 28 endangered species. We chose to take 2 vehicles but the drive time between the parks is minimal, so worth it. It meanders across northern Illinois to the Rock River. In dry spells there are a couple of place where you will need to get out and drag your boat for a short distance (usually 20ft).
