All of the trail crossings by roads had flooding and required a detour around half frozen ponds of run off in January.I run this trail 3x a week from Hylan to the Nature Center for a 6 mile out and back. I've seen deer, countless variety of birds, and tons of amazing little creatures. We enjoyed it very much and plan on taking the other trail towards Latourette Park. These parks maintain a huge variety of recreational, educational, and natural programs and facilities. Use it.

We walked with 2 other children, 5 and 9 years old, and a 5 month old puppy. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Took the red trail but never made it to Moses’ Mountain due to confusion with the trail markers.

The Staten Island Greenbelt is a monument of natural resource preservation in a rapidly developing environment. Fall, great foliage. There are long range plans underway to incorporate the I've seen deer, turkeys, chipmunk, and an assortment of birds while running. Some parts of the trail are poorly marked, especially the lower sections. You may be able to see some houses on this western half of the trail but the trade off is more interesting terrain.
Watch out for the many unmarked cross trails, keep an eye out for the white blazes.
The crushed-stone path is 6-feet wide and runs from Rockland Avenue to Richmond Avenue, following along the perimeter of LaTourette golf course and paralleling Forest Hill Road. Nice running trail!Did the N trail.
Most crossing boards were slippery. Often come across Deer around elevation areas. I would really like to know. You will forget you are in Staten Island while out in the SI Greenbelt. Go straight back and you will see the white blaze.1-Forest Hill Rd - across street2-Rockland ave - across street3-London Rd - go left, down Meisner Ave towards rock wall then go thru gap in guardrail4-Eleanor st -across street to the right5-Nugent st -across street to the right6-St George Rd -go right, trail is just before Lawn ave7-St Andrew rd - go right, trail on left side after Nadine st8-McCully ave -go left to Richmond Rd, go right on Richmond, across from bus map pole9-Clarke Ave - go left to Amboy Rd -cross to Savoy st, near Riedel ave left of guardrail10-Hylan Blvd -cross to great kills park. With the exception of High Rock Park, the woodlands of the Greenbelt are relatively young but support a great diversity of plants and wildlife.
It was off the trail and there were many of the same buildings! My Golden Retriever enjoys this trail.

Biggest complaint is that most of the trail is basically people’s backyards, and you have to cross WAY too many busy streets with no traffic lights. there are restrooms with a little museum with stuffed animalsI went on the blue trail and came across some ruins.
